The inaugural Made in Canada Expo 2026 officially opened on June 19 in Mississauga, Ontario, organized by Afghan-Canadian entrepreneurs. The three-day event will continue through June 21 at The International Centre.
The expo has brought together dozens of Canadian business leaders, investors, manufacturers, entrepreneurs and private-sector representatives. The event aims to showcase Canadian-made products, services and innovations while creating new opportunities for business networking, investment and economic growth.
Government representatives, investors and industry leaders attended the opening ceremony, where participants were able to establish direct connections and discuss opportunities in the Canadian market.
Allah Mohammad Kakar, expo organizer, said the expo plays an important role in supporting economic growth, strengthening domestic production and promoting small and medium-sized businesses across Canada.
“This event provides companies with an opportunity to introduce their products and services to new customers and business partners,” Kakar said. “When Canadians see the quality and diversity of products and services made at home, national confidence grows, economic resilience strengthens and international trust in Canada increases.”
Another organizer, Jawad Kakar, told Wesal TV that the expo serves as a national platform to showcase Canadian-made products and businesses from a wide range of sectors.
Companies representing manufacturing, technology, retail, food and beverage, health and wellness, innovation and other industries are exhibiting their products and services throughout the event.
Organizers say the expo comes at a time when global supply chains are shifting, trade challenges are increasing and U.S. tariffs continue to put pressure on Canadian industries. They believe such initiatives help strengthen support for Canadian workers, businesses, products and services while encouraging a stronger national economic response.
