At least 25 people were killed and 51 others sustained burn injuries when a fire broke out in a coal’s company office building in northern China, media reports said on Thursday.

The fire broke out at 6:50 am Thursday in the second floor on the four stories high building in the northern province of Shanxi.

China’s state-run news media put the death toll at 26 with 38 others hospitalized in Lüliang, a city southwest of Beijing.

The fire, which broke out on the second floor in the offices of Yongju Coal Company, was extinguished by 3 p.m., according to the broadcaster China Central Television.
