In Toronto, Canada, people from diverse linguistic backgrounds, including Pashtuns, Bengalis, Baloch, Sindhis, and others, came together to celebrate International Mother Language Day with a variety of cultural and artistic activities.
February 21st is recognized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as “Mother Language Day” and is celebrated annually in many countries around the world.
The event, organized by the Pashtun Council Canada, saw the active participation of civil activists, politicians, professors, poets, and writers from both Eastern and Western Pashtuns in Canada. During the gathering, speakers and artists representing Pashto, Bengali, Balochi, and Sindhi languages shared their insights on the significance of preserving and promoting mother tongues.
