The Afghan Cultural Association in Toronto, Canada, has organised its annual festival, celebrating the national team’s commendable performance in the just-concluded T20 World Cup.
At the event held on June 30, music and songs were played and cultural programmes presented.
On the occasion, different programmes were conducted to spotlight the Afghan culture, with youth performing the traditional Afghan dance called Atan and thereby portraying the image of national unity and harmony to society.
The participants also demonstrated the opulence and rich diversity of the Afghan culture by wearing traditional attires, singing songs and dancing in unison.
The Afghans, who recently arrived in Canada, were also welcomed and assured of all-out cooperation from the Cultural Association.
The guests voiced their happiness over the recent achievements of the cricket team, hailing it as a balanced and mature squad. They praised the courage and efforts of the players and also affirmed support to them.
They said the cricket team had brought joys, laurels and accolades to Afghans in a difficult situation. The cricketers are now seen as great harbingers of hope for the nation.
According to the Afghans, an exceptional level of patriotism and courage enabled the national team to outclass the world’s formidable sides.
