Afghanistan is all poised to take on India in the second round of the FIFA 2026 World Cup qualifiers and the 2027 Asian Nations Cup, an official said on Thursday.
The crucial match is expected to take place on 11:30pm tonight in Saudi Arabia’s Abhai town.
Afghanistan Football Federation spokesman Mustafa Hashimi told Pajhwok Afghan News Afghanistan’s national football players will play against India in the second round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and the 2027 Asian Nations Cup today.
He said the match was the second round of Afghanistan’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers and third after Kuwait and Qatar in 2027 Asian Nations Cup.
Afghanistan Football Team manager Ashley Westwood told a press conference said the side underwent training to get familiar with weather.
“We are ready to play, we will try to get a good result and play good”: he added.
“The match against India is crucial,” national football team captain Islamuddin Amiri said.
He said India was an old rival of Afghanistan and they had different feelings against each other and both sides used to try their best to win.
Amiri said they would try their best to win the game tonight.
