Seven people have died in heat-related incidents amid an intense heatwave sweeping across France.
According to a report by Reuters, French Energy Minister Maud Bregeon said that five of the victims drowned in lakes, seas, and coastal areas.
Officials also confirmed that a 53-year-old runner suffered a fatal heart attack during a race in Paris, while another woman died from extreme heat during a sporting event in Lyon.
The report said France has been experiencing unusually high temperatures since last Saturday, prompting the national meteorological agency to issue an orange alert for several regions.
French authorities warned that the heatwave is expected to persist in the coming days and urged residents to avoid outdoor activities during the hottest hours of the day and to stay hydrated.
