The World Food Programme (WFP) has warned that after more than three years of war in Sudan, the hunger crisis continues, with millions of people — especially children — facing the risk of famine and severe malnutrition.
The organization wrote on its X page: “In Sudan, two out of every five people are facing crisis levels of hunger, and around 825,000 children under the age of five are at risk of severe malnutrition.”
According to the source, ongoing violence, displacement, and severe restrictions on access to humanitarian aid have worsened the situation for children, families, and communities across Sudan.
The World Food Programme emphasized that although it continues its operations in Sudan, an urgent increase in international assistance and support is essential to prevent the crisis from turning into a major humanitarian catastrophe.
