A team of Afghan youth based in Ottawa, Canada, participated in the 2025 international cricket tournament, the “World Tape Ball Clash,” representing Afghanistan.
The tournament was organized by Sher-e-Punjab Cricket and took place in Canada’s capital, Ottawa, featuring top teams from various countries.
The Afghan team from Ottawa, representing Afghanistan, included captain Ahmad Naveen Samandar, Qader, Hamoon Musazai, Sami Shinwari, Ahmad SiyarSamandar, Basit Karokhel, Hameed Musazai, Hashmat Musazai, Sami Wafa, Shahab Shinwari, Hematullah Karokhel, Abdullah Karokhel, Owais Mujaddedi, Noor Shakir, and Daniyal Ahmadzai.
The team delivered strong performances, proudly representing their country and winning the hearts of fans with their play.
Team captain Ahmad Naveen Samandar told Wesal TV, “We sincerely thank all our team members, coaches, Shegi Real Estate Group, and the Canada-Afghanistan Foundation for their support.”
Similarly, coach Rohul Amin Shakir expressed confidence that the team would return even stronger, more united, and better prepared for future competitions.
Another coach, Rahimullah Samandar, who actively encourages Afghan youth to engage in cricket, emphasized that winning is not the only goal — participation, learning, and growth in the sport are equally important.
Samandar added that Afghan youth competing in cricket tournaments worldwide symbolizes their identity, unity, and determination.
