Saudi security forces have killed hundreds of Ethiopian migrants seeking to enter the kingdom from Yemen, Human Rights Watch (HRW) claimed in a report.
HRW said in its annual report on August 21 the killings took place between June 2022 and June of 2023. It slammed the killings as a crime against humanity.
HRW requested the United Nations to conduct an investigation into the incidents.
The report added Saudi border forces used explosives and other arms for killing the Ethiopian migrants and fired live ammunition from close range.
Women and children were among the migrants killed. HRW said, the investment of billions of dollars by Saudi Arabia could not divert the world’s attention from such activities.
The Saudi government is yet to comment on the latest HRW report. In the past, however, it has rejected such claims.
