Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio have reaffirmed their commitment to implementing the Gaza ceasefire and ensuring the release of all hostages.
The US State Department announced Rubio’s visit to Saudi Arabia and his meetings with Mohammed bin Salman and Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.
A statement from the State Department said the two sides discussed ways to advance shared interests in Syria, Lebanon and across the region, including Red Sea security and freedom of navigation.
Rubio looked forward to increased economic and defencee cooperation between the United States and Saudi Arabia and committed to further strengthening the bilateral partnership.
They also reiterated their commitment to enforcing the ceasefire in Gaza and ensuring the release of all hostages, including American citizens.
Meanwhile, AFP quoted Rubio as saying that any deal on the future of war-torn Gaza must boost regional security.
Rubio and the crown prince “discussed regional and international developments” and “efforts to assure security and stability in the region”.
