At least 15 people have been killed and as many others wounded as a result of stampede at a railway station in New Delhi, India, says a media report.
The incident occurred on Saturday night as passengers gathered on two platforms, awaiting trains to Prayagraj city, the venue for the ongoing Hindu Maha Kumbh festival, Reuters reported.
The stampede claimed the lives of 15 people, including 10 women and three children. As many as 15 others were also injured.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several federal ministers expressed their condolences through posts on X but did not disclose the exact death toll.
“Distressed by the stampede at New Delhi Railway Station. My thoughts are with all those who have lost their loved ones,” Modi wrote on X.
