At least 16 Pakistani soldiers have been killed as militants attacked a check-post in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s South Waziristan tribal district, says a media report.
In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said militants attempted to attack a security forces’ check post in the general area of Makeen on Friday night, Anadolu News agency reported.
It said the attack was repelled and eight militants killed, but 16 Pakistani soldiers also lost their lives.
“Security forces of Pakistan are determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave men further strengthen our resolve,” said the statement.
