United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has said he is profoundly concerned by escalating tensions between Israel and Lebanon’s Hezbollah and that UN peacekeepers are working to calm the situation and prevent miscalculation.
BBC reported Antonio Gutierrez said he is not optimistic about the cease-fire in the Gaza Strip.
Antonio Guterres said, “We will not allow anyone to involve Lebanon in another war like Gaza.”
He was speaking at the annual United Nations General Assembly in New York, which was attended by many leaders from around the world. It seems that neither Hamas nor Israel wants a ceasefire.
In the latest incident, the Lebanese Hezbollah group fired 150 missiles at Israel, which reportedly caused more damage than before. This is a revenge for the attacks of Israeli warplanes on Hezbollah targets in the south of Lebanon late on Saturday.
