Iran has reportedly intensified expelling documented Afghan refugees.
According to media report, the forced deportation of Afghan migrants from Iran has intensified, with a number of migrants with visas and legal documents also crossing the border into Afghanistan.
The forcibly deported refugees told media that security was ensured in Afghanistan and if work chances were provided to laborers and youth, no one would want to travel to other countries.
Naseer Ahmad, one of the refugees who was deported despite having legal documents, said he was deported one and a half months ago. He said Afghan refugees were mistreated by Iranian police.
He said: “I stayed for 16 day in Iran and had my passport and insurance, but Iranian authorities forcibly deported me.”
He called on the government to pay attention to the ill-treatment and forced deportation of refugees from Iran. He urged the officials to share the issue with Iranian authorities as well.
One official in Islam Qala port confirmed the forced deportation of refugees with legal documents from Iran.
Afghan commissar Maulvi Hazratullah Zaeem told reporters that around 3,000 and 3,500 Afghan refugees daily crossed the border after being forcefully deported to the country.
Zaeem said that around 50 to 60 Afghans with legal documents were being deported by the government of Iran via Islam Qala port.
But representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) Rahmatullah Faizan cited lack of legal work visas with the Afghan nationals behind their eviction.
He said those travelling to Iran for work must not obtain tourists’ visas because the hosting country expels them back for this reason.
