Russian President Vladimir Putin has arrived in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, on a state visit, says a media report.
According to TASS news agency, Putin and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev are expected to meet on further strengthening bilateral relations and international issues.
Azerbaijani ambassador to Russia Polad Bulbuloglu was quoted as saying: “As it was announced previously, President Putin is paying an official visit to Baku on August 18-19 and both presidents are set for an extensive dialogue.”
Putin’s talk with Aliyev are expected to focus on the current state of and prospects for the further development of relations and international and regional issues.
It is the eighth trip of Putin to Azerbaijan as Russia’s president.
