Four people have lost their lives, eight others have been injured, and ten more remain missing after a collision between a truck carrying returning migrants and a Toyota Prius on the Kabul–Nangarhar highway in Laghman province.

Nazeefullah Abuhuraira, spokesperson for the Laghman Traffic Department, told Pajhwok that the incident occurred on Thursday night on the Kabul–Jalalabad highway in the Khairokhail area.

He said a truck transporting returning migrants collided with a Prius vehicle in the area, after which both vehicles fell into a river.

According to initial reports, four bodies and eight injured individuals have so far been recovered from the river, while ten others are still missing.

He added that rescue and search operations to locate the missing persons are ongoing.
