Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian departed for Islamabad on Tuesday following an invitation from Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Iranian media reported that ahead of the visit, Pezeshkian said the purpose of the trip is to appreciate Pakistan’s cooperation and follow up on the implementation of agreements between Tehran and Islamabad.

He said discussions during the visit would focus on expanding cooperation in trade, economic, cultural, security, and military sectors, as well as strengthening regional peace and stability.

The Iranian president also expressed appreciation for Pakistani officials’ role in supporting diplomatic efforts and reducing regional tensions.

According to Tasnim News Agency, Pezeshkian is expected to hold talks with senior Pakistani officials on bilateral relations, regional cooperation, and recent developments in the Middle East.
