At least seven people were killed and three others injured in two roadside explosions in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday, the blasts occurred in different areas of Bannu earlier in the day.

The first explosion took place when an improvised explosive device planted along a roadside detonated, hitting a passenger van travelling from Hathi Khel village to Bannu city. Five passengers in the van were killed in the blast.

A second explosion occurred shortly afterwards at the same location. Two people involved in rescue efforts were killed in the second blast, while a vehicle was also damaged. Three others sustained injuries in the incidents.

Security and rescue teams reached the site after the explosions and shifted the injured to hospital for treatment.

Local authorities said investigations have been launched to identify those responsible for the attacks. No group has yet claimed responsibility.

Bannu has witnessed several security incidents in recent years, and the latest explosions have further raised concerns about the security situation in the region.
