Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) has announced that the country’s ports are fully capable of providing maritime services to commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz and regional waters.
According to Tasnim News Agency, the PMO issued an official message addressed to captains of commercial vessels operating in the Strait of Hormuz and surrounding waters, stating that Iranian ports are “fully prepared” to provide services to merchant ships in the area.
The organization added that the services include technical support, maritime assistance, and medical aid for vessels passing through the strategic waterway.
It said the message aims to ensure maritime safety, improve navigational efficiency, and safeguard crew welfare, and is being disseminated through Iran’s maritime communication channels.
The development comes after US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that the “Operation Freedom Project” for the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz had been temporarily suspended to create conditions for a potential agreement with Iran.
Following this, a Pakistani source familiar with the negotiations told Reuters that Iran and the United States are close to reaching an agreement on a one-page memorandum aimed at ending hostilities.
