Following a 90-day suspension of US-funded foreign aid programmes, the Trump administration has decided to exempt humanitarian assistance.

According to a media report, Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced on Tuesday funding for essential humanitarian programmes would continue temporarily.

The programmes provide life-saving medicine, medical services, food, shelter and subsistence support.

A waiver obtained by the Associated Press confirmed President Donald Trump had issued a 90-day freeze to review the allocation of funds across the thousands of humanitarian, development, and security programmes.

Meanwhile, CNN reported a federal judge temporarily blocked part of the administration’s plan to freeze all federal aid –a move that caused concern among charities and educators.
