Afghanistan clinched the two-match Test series against Zimbabwe after securing a 72-run victory on the final day at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.
Zimbabwe were dismissed for 205, failing to add to their overnight score, but losing their last two wickets in the only 13 minutes, Reuters reported.
Richard Ngarava was run out in the second over of the day amid confusion with captain Craig Ervine, who went in the next over trapped leg before wicket by Rashid Khan.
For Afghanistan, veteran leggie Rashid Khan captured seven wickets, while Zia-ur- Rahman chipped in with two scalps in the second innings.
It was Khan’s leg spin on Sunday that saw Afghanistan move into a winning position after Zimbabwe initially looked victory-bound when they were 157-4, chasing a winning target of 278 runs.
Earlier, on the first day, Afghanistan were bundled out for 157 runs in their first innings after being invited to bat. The hosts replied with 247 runs in their first innings, taking an 86-run lead.
In Afghanistan’s second innings, Rahmat Shah and debutant Ismat Alam hit centuries to guide their team to a total of 347 runs.
Shah slummed 139 runs, while debutant Alam chipped in with 101.
Afghanistan have now won four of 11 tests played since winning test status in 2017 – two of them against Zimbabwe.
Earlier, the national squad had won the One-Day International andT20 series against the hosts.
