The Ghulam Khan crossing point has been closed after a clash between Afghan and Pakistani forces resulted in the death of one driver in southeastern Khost province.

Officials reported that the clash happened around 6:00pm on Thursday when Afghan forces engaged in a verbal dispute with Pakistani forces over the mistreatment of a driver.

Bahaijan Bilal, an official at Ghulam Khan Port, said that the initial clash lasted about 15 minutes. However, it reignited at 8:00pm and continued until 2:00am, with both sides using heavy and light weapons.

While specific casualty details were not disclosed, but residents confirmed that a driver was killed in the exchanges.

Abid, a resident, noted that the clashes had displaced hundreds of families from the area.

Local authorities acknowledged the clash but did not provide additional information.
