The D-8 Council of Ministers has called for an “immediate, permanent and unconditional” cease-fire in Gaza, says a media report.
An extraordinary meeting of the D-8 Council of Ministers on the situation in Gaza was held on June 8 in Istanbul, Türkiye.
Foreign ministers from Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria and Pakistan gathered in Istanbul at the invitation of Hakan Fidan, the Turkish foreign minister, Anadolu news agency reported.
In a joint declaration, the ministers called on all countries to ensure Israel’s strict adherence to provisional measures ordered by the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
D-8 nations affirmed their unwavering support for the struggle of the Palestinian people to realise their inalienable rights.
They backed full membership of Palestine in the United Nations and all resolutions related to the Palestinian cause on international fora.
The declaration stressed implementation of all resolutions of the UN and other international organisations concerning Palestine, crimes by Israeli forces, the entitlement of the Palestinian people to independence throughout all territories occupied since 1967.
The D-8 countries reaffirmed “that a just, lasting and comprehensive peace is the only path to guarantee security and stability for all peoples of the region and protect them from violence and wars.
They said the goal could not be achieved without ending the Israeli occupation and settling the Palestinian issue on the basis of the two-state solution.
