With the initiation of the second phase of Afghan refugees’ repatriation from Pakistan, Medicines Sans Frontier (MSF) has expressed its deep concern for the rights and welfare the deportees.
In the second phase of repatriation, which started on April 15, about 800,000 Afghan refugees face the risk of deportation from the neighbouring country.
MSF said in a statement the Afghans were being sent back to their homeland in harsh conditions.
It said most of refugees were returning to a country where people were already struggling with widespread poverty and inadequate health services.
The organisation said the refugees being deported had been issued with Afghan Citizen Cards (ACC) by the Pakistani authorities.
In the first phase, Pakistan had expelled more than half a million undocumented Afghans, who faced a harsh winter, extreme poverty and hunger in Afghanistan.
Earlier a number of countries and international humanitarian organisations called on Pakistan to stop deporting Afghan refugees.
