Afghanistan’s spin maestro Rashid Khan has smashed Mohammad Shami’s record to become the highest wicket-taker for Gujarat in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Khan achieved the feat in a group clash against Sunrisers Hayderabad, according to India Today.
Khan, the vice-captain of the franchise, went past Mohammad Shami’s tally to become the highest wicket-taker for GT in the history of IPL.
The leggie picked his 49th IPL wicket for GT when he dismissed Heinrich Klaasen for 24.
Despite Klaasen’s aggressive display, particularly hitting two sixes off Noor Ahmed’s final over, his ongoing challenges against Rashid Khan remain evident.
The veteran spinner has a tally of 49 wickets in 36 matches for GT, with an average of 22 and an economy of just 7.54. Shami has taken 48 wickets in 33 games.
