One civilian has been killed and four others have been wounded in gunfire from Pakistan forces in the Dand-i-Patan district of southeastern Paktia province, a governmental source said on Tuesday.
Zabihullah Mujahid, chief spokesman for Taliban, had said on Monday that Pakistan planes bombed the houses of ordinary people in the Barmal district of Khost and Spera district of Paktika.
The airstrikes had killed three women and as many children in Paktika and two women in Khost, Mujahid claimed, saying two houses were also destroyed.
He warned Pakistan’s deadly airstrikes in Khost and Paktika provinces would have consequences that the neighbour would be unable to control.
After the bombardment, a clash between Afghan and Pakistani forces erupted in Dand-i-Patan district, resulting in the closure of the Kharlachi crossing.
A reliable government source in the district said the clash ended after mediation by tribal elders late on Monday.
The official added one civilian was killed and four others, including a child, were injured in Astania village of the district.
Hundreds of families had migrated to safer areas from border villages, fearing resumption of fighting.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday summoned the Pakistani ambassador in Kabul over the airstrikes in Khost and Paktika and handed him a demarche.
