The UN secretary-general has asked Hamas and Israel for an immediately ceasefire and unconditional release of all hostages in Gaza.
António Guterres wrote on his X handle: “I have repeatedly called for the immediate & unconditional release of all hostages & a humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza.
“That is the only way to massively scale up aid delivery,” he said, adding it must be the foundation for concrete and irreversible steps towards a two-state solution.
According to news reports, since October 7, over 28,000 Palestinian have been killed and more than 67,000 injured in Israeli attacks.
At the same time 2,000 Israelis have also been killed and 5,000 others injured in Hamas attacks.
