The Torkham crossing was reopened after 11 days of closure on Tuesday morning, an official said.
Commissar Mullah Abdul Jabbar Hikmat said the Pakistani side was asking truck drivers and cleaners for visas and later Afghan authorities took the same step.
He said as a result of 10 days of negotiations between the two sides, the issue was resolved and the Torkham gate reopened today.
Shakirullah Sapi, an official of the Nangarhar Chamber of Commerce and Investment, welcomed the reopening of the route.
During the closure of the key crossing, he reckoned, traders and transporters had suffered about $100,000 losses on a daily basis.
