Pashayi Language Day was celebrated in the city of Mississauga, Canada, during a gathering that brought together youth, elders, writers and cultural figures.
The event focused on the development, preservation, and importance of the Pashayi language.
It was organized on the initiative of Hanifullah Pashayi, head of the Association of Pashayi Youth of Afghanistan.
The gathering aimed to help preserve the Pashayi language, pass on cultural heritage and values to the new generation, and strengthen unity within the Pashayi community.
Many young people, elders, writers, and cultural personalities from the Pashayi community participated in the event, which featured meaningful speeches, poetry recitations, music, and artistic performances.
Political, social, and cultural leaders from other ethnic communities also attended. They emphasized the value of language, stating that it is not merely a tool for communication, but a fundamental part of a nation’s identity, culture, and history.
They called on the Afghan diaspora to remain committed to their languages, culture, and identity.
At the end of the event, Hanifullah Pashayi thanked all participants and pledged that such cultural efforts would continue, so that the Pashayi language can reach every corner of the world and remain alive for generations to come.
In Afghanistan, alongside Pashto and Dari, commonly spoken languages include Uzbeki, Turkmeni, Pashayi, Nuristani, Balochi, Pamiri, and others. These languages represent the identity, historical memory, and cultural values of various ethnic groups, regions, and communities.
