On the occasion of March 8, International Women’s Day, the Afghan Social Services Centre Foundation(ANSS) in Toronto, Canada organized a roundtable discussion titled “Educating for Change: Empowering Communities to Stand Against Violence Toward Afghan Women.”
During the meeting, speakers discussed women’s rights, the improvement of their social conditions, and the importance of addressing and preventing violence against Afghan women.
At the same time, the United Nations, in a report released for International Women’s Day 2026, noted that discriminatory social norms, fear, victim-blaming, and lack of trust in judicial institutions continue to prevent many women from accessing justice.
This year, the United Nations commemorates International Women’s Day under the theme “Rights, Justice, Action: For All Women and Girls,” and calls on governments and the international community to take urgent steps to end the culture of impunity, strengthen the rule of law, and ensure real equality for women and girls in all aspects of life.
