A meeting of several Afghan political figures and activists in London, organized by former MP Fawzia Koofi and Afghanistan’s Ambassador to Geneva Nasir Andisha, has not only attracted media attention but has also faced widespread criticism over alleged links to Pakistan.
Participants emphasized that Afghanistan’s future should be determined through dialogue, mutual understanding, and a shared national vision—not through force or monopoly. They view the meeting as the beginning of a new dialogue among Afghan politicians.
However, critics consider this dialogue an effort driven by Pakistan and a continuation of the Islamabad meeting. They argue that Afghans should no longer rally around Pakistan, as such efforts do not serve Afghanistan’s interests.
On this topic, we spoke with General Dawood Jalali, a participant of the London meeting, and Dr. Hatef Mukhtar, head of the Afghanistan Center for International Strategic Studies. Here are their views.
