In the Netherlands, the 126th birthday of Queen Soraya was commemorated alongside the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. The event was organized by the Afghan Women’s “Pewastoon Association” and the “Women’s Rights First” bringing together Afghan activists, students, cultural figures, and women’s rights advocates.
The gathering focused on Queen Soraya’s reforms, the historical development of Afghan women’s rights, the current situation of Afghan women, and collective efforts to strengthen solidarity within the community.
At the conclusion of the event, the hosting organizations reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Afghan women’s education, employment, safety, and fundamental rights.
