Organized by the National Axis (Mehar Mili), a gathering of Afghans was held in Toronto, Canada under the title “Afghan National Dialogue: The Path to National Unity, Peace, and Progress.”
Dozens of Afghan figures, scholars, and activists took part in the event. With the active participation of women and youth, the dialogue aimed to assess Afghanistan’s current challenges and propose practical solutions.
Participants strongly called for preparations to convene a global Loya Jirga of Afghans, stressing that violations of citizens’ fundamental rights — especially the right of girls to education — must end immediately.
The dialogue’s core objective was to highlight Afghanistan’s political, educational, and cultural issues and to identify solutions. Participants engaged in seven specialized groups covering political, security, economic, educational, social, and human rights topics.
The outcomes reflected a shared demand for the establishment of a legitimate system, respect for fundamental rights — particularly women’s rights — improvement of psychological security, investment in economic infrastructure, and the revival of educational opportunities, especially for girls.
At the conclusion, participants emphasized that such national dialogues must continue so Afghans can put forward clear visions and practical solutions for their country’s future. The National Axis also announced that similar meetings have been held in other countries and that efforts are underway to expand this process to nations where such dialogues have not yet taken place.
The National Axis seeks to gather Afghans’ views and solutions, with the ultimate goal of transforming this National Dialogue into a grand Loya Jirga — one that will transparently outline the future of Afghanistan and its people.
