The majority of newly arrived Afghan immigrants to Canada suffer from mental illnesses, anxiety and depression.
A new study by the Canadian Centre for Mental Health Research also indicates that newcomers are suffering highly from anxiety compared to the Canadian-born.
According to the data from this study, 20 percent of newly arrived Afghans in Canada suffer from depression, and it shows 14 percent in those who arrived earlier.
We have dedicated today’s program to this topic. The guest of our program is Ms. Sima Akbari, an active psychologist in Toronto, Canada.
In light of her experience and knowledge, she will provide detailed information about why the Canadian environment causes new immigrants to suffer from stress.
Although the conditions and factors that cause stress are different for each person, during this program, all the factors and dimensions of this issue have been discussed, and at the end of the program, solutions and how to prevent stress and anxiety have been explained.
According to the Canadian Immigration and Citizenship Department, from August 2021 until now, more than 46,000 Afghan immigrants have been transferred and resettled in this country.
