The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MoEA) has announced that it will continue to issue visas to Afghan citizens.
At a recent press conference,MoEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal reaffirmed India’s commitment to granting visas to Afghans.
Responding to a query, he said: “While I don’t have the exact numbers at hand, I can confirm that visas are being issued to people in Afghanistan. The process is ongoing to facilitate movement.”
He also underlined his country’s long-standing ties with Afghanistan, saying, “We have a history of providing humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan over the years.”
The remarks come as hundreds of Afghan students, who had traveled to Afghanistan for vacation before the Taliban took over, face difficulties obtaining visas to return to India.
Many of the students have applied multiple times for visas to resume their studies in India for the new academic year.
