Five Pakistani security personnel have been killed and three others injured in a roadside explosion and armed attack in the Kurram district of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, a media report said on Saturday.
Radio Mashaal reported a vehicle carrying the security personnel struck a roadside bomb in the area, killing five soldiers.
Following the bomb explosion, gunmen attacked the soldiers. At least three soldiers were wounded in the shooting.
The attack, which occurred in the Teendo area of the district, drew strong condemnation from the president and the prime minister.
The Inter-Services Public Relations said security forces were determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of brave soldiers would further strengthen our resolve.
Meanwhile, Dawn reported residents of Kurram protested against the incidents of shootings and blasts, as it was the third IED attack in the district this month.
