Three civilians have been killed, and 10 others wounded in Pakistani forces gunfire in the Dand-i-Patan district of southeastern Paktia province, a source said on Friday.
A credible government source, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said that a clash took place between Pakistani border guards and Afghan forces at around 1:00am on Thursday night.
The source said three civilians were killed, and 10 others wounded in the gunfire from the Pakistani side in Dand-i-Patan district.
According to the source, casualties were also inflected on the Pakistani side, but the exact figure was not known.
Mohammad Amir, a tribal elder in the Astia area of the district, said the last night clash forced the nearby families to leave their houses.
Several families were displaced to safer areas from their villages, fearing a resumption of fighting.
He said all the families of Astia, Ragha, Chapari and Mir Akbar villages left their homes because the Pakistan forces were targeting the houses of civilians.
Three days ago, Pakistani forces fired missiles into the Zazai Aryub district of Paktia, which faced a similar response from Afghan security forces.
