Afghanistan for the first time qualified for the 2024 Futsal World Cup by beating Kyrgyzstan 5-3 in the Futsal Asian Cup in Bangkok.
The match started at 9:30 am Afghanistan time, with i the national team scoring five goals/ The hosts were able to hit the net thrice.
Winning the first half before returning to the dressing room and the Afghans shone well in the second half as well.
Omid Qanbari, Omid Kazimi, Mahdi Nawrozi and Mehran Ghulami scored goals for the side.
AFF congratulated the team over the victory and said: “Afghanistan beat Kyrgyzstan 5-3 in a friendly Futsal match and climbed up to the World Cup for the first time in history”.
“Asia should believe that there is a power called Afghanistan in futsal”, Majid Mortazayee, head coach of the futsal team, told a press conference.
Afghanistan won two games, lost as many and one draw in the 2024 Asian Futsal Cup.
The 10th edition of the Futsal World Cup will be held in Uzbekistan from September 14 to October 6, 2024.
As many as 24 teams will feature in the mega event — fourth in Asia and first in Central Asia — including the defending champions Portugal.
