Acting Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani has said the issue of girls’ education belongs to the Afghans and they themselves would address it.
Haqqani, who met a delegation of Afghan scholars and culturists living in in European Countries, said the government of the Islamic Emirate (IEA) did not like to listen to dictation from others about the inclusivity of the government as it was against the national sovereignty of Afghanistan.
State owned Bakhtar News Agency (BNA) quoted Haqqani as saying: “We desire bilateral interaction with the world based on mutual respect, something explained by the supreme leader in his Eid message.”
“The issue of education belongs to Afghans and the IEA will address it”, Haqqani said.
He added: “This issue belongs to our children, no one has more sympathy with our children than us.”
About inclusive government, Haqqani said: “The world must accept and get accustomed to the fact that Afghanistan is an autonomous state, it does not interfere in the internal issues of others, and it does not like to hear proposals of others about the inclusivity of the government.”
Haqqani assured that the doors of the government would remain open for Afghan philanthropists and the government would continue its efforts to address domestic issues itself.
The head of the delegation Dr. Khushhal Rohi, hailed the IEA’s achievements with regard to security, poppy and others and said: “Afghanistan was not only under military invasion, but also under cultural and ideological invasions, which needs to be dealt with very carefully.”
Rohi said it was important to forget the past bitter memories after the wars and accept each other, improve the quality of education, pave the way for the country’s development by giving chances to professionals and maintaining good interaction with the world.
The IEA barred girls above grade six from going to school until further order after its takeover in 2021, saying a plan is being worked on in this regard.
The 12-member delegation has so far met several Taliabn officials during the past few days.
