Canada has evacuated 273 more Afghan nationals from Pakistan to Vancouver, the Immigration, Refugees, Citizenship Canada (IRCC) said on Thursday.
IRCC wrote on its X handle: “Today (Thursday), 273 Afghan nationals arrived in Vancouver on a charter flight from Pakistan.”
They will continue their journey to approximately 27 communities across Canada, including Abbotsford, Kelowna and Toronto.”
According to IRCC, Canada has met its goal of welcoming at least 40,000 refugees and vulnerable Afghans since August 2021, and work continues to process eligible applications already received.
IRCC confirmed 304 Afghan refugees had reached Toronto on a charter flight from Pakistan on February 8.
