Turkish police have arrested 39 illegal Afghan migrants in northeastern Duzce province, media reports said on Thursday.
The migrants were hiding inside a car among boxes of paper towels and were arrested in Chilamli district of Duzce province, Anatolia news agency reported.
It said: “Security forces stopped a car in Arabaji area during an operation and after the inspection, 39 Afghan nationals who were hiding between the boxes of paper towels were arrested inside the car.”
These migrants will be transferred to the Immigration Department of the province after going through legal procedures.
The driver of the car has also been arrested on charges of human trafficking.
Earlier, Turkish police had arrested 18 illegal Afghan refugees in Bitlis province.
