European Union special representative for Afghanistan Tomas Niklasson has discussed the situation of Afghanistan with foreign ministers of Pakistan and Indonesia in Brussels.
On his X handle, Niklasson wrote: “Grateful for the opportunity to meet 🇵🇰Foreign Minister Jalil Jilani in Brussels.
“We spoke about EU support to the people of Afghanistan, education, economic development, governance and security and our shared hope for a successful UN led meeting in Doha 🇶🇦in two weeks.”
In another post on his X, the EU envoy also wrote: “Pleased to meet 🇮🇩Foreign Minister Menlu_RI in Brussels to compare notes on the situation in Afghanistan, the importance of international engagement and education opportunities for all, and our joint intention to work towards a constructive UN meeting in Doha 🇶🇦later this month.”
The UN would convene the meeting on February 18 and 19.
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Maulvi Abdul Kabir confirmed that the IEA representative had been invited to attend the meeting on Afghanistan in Doha.
