A US F-16 fighter jet crashed into sea off South Korea’s southwestern coast on Wednesday, the Associated Press reported.
Ejecting safely, the pilot was taken to a medical facility for assessment, according to a statement from the US 8th Fighter Wing.
With the cause of the crash near the port city of Seosan being probed, information about casualties or property damage was not immediately available.
On Nov. 29, a US Air Force Osprey aircraft crashed during a training mission off Japan’s coast, killing all eight people on board.
Meanwhile, the Yonhap news agency said the pilot ejected unhurt. The plane crashed at about 8:40 a.m. local time near the Kunsan Air Base.
