Wesal TV(Pickering): Durham Regional Police say two men have been arrested and charged in two separate theft investigations in Pickering and Ajax.

 

In the first case, police said a former employee of a financial company in Pickering was arrested for allegedly breaking into the company’s office and stealing electronic equipment valued at more than $22,000.

 

According to a police statement, in June 2026, officers from West Division responded to a report of a break-and-enter and theft at a financial company in the area of Liverpool Road and Pickering Parkway. Company employees had received an alert through the access system indicating that a former employee had entered the office using a stolen electronic key fob.

 

Police said the investigation showed the suspect entered the office several times between April and May 2026 using the same electronic key fob and stole electronic equipment worth more than $22,000.

 

Durham police said that on Friday, July 3, 2026, officers from the West Division Crime Team, with assistance from the Community Resource Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence in Oshawa. The suspect was identified nearby and arrested without incident.

 

Police identified the accused as 35-year-old Oluwalositan Jermaine Konteh-Bey of Oshawa. He has been charged with break-and-enter and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. He was later released on an undertaking.

 

In a separate incident, Durham police also reported the arrest of another man accused of stealing recycled metal valued at more than $45,000 in Ajax.

 

Police said that on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at about 9:15 p.m., West Division officers responded to an alarm call at AIM Recycling, located at 140 Dowty Road in Ajax. According to police, a male suspect had been seen breaking into the company’s scrap metal yard.

 

Officers, with assistance from the K9 Unit, Tactical Support Unit and Drone Unit, searched the area and located the suspect, who was arrested without incident.

 

Further investigation showed the suspect had committed multiple thefts from the business and had stolen more than $45,000 worth of metal.

 

Police identified the accused as Haron Mohammad, 35, of Pickering. He has been charged with break-and-enter and theft over $5,000. He was later released on an undertaking.
