Nine Pakistani policemen have been killed and five others abducted after militants attacked a security checkpoint in Balochistan, Pakistani media reported on Tuesday, the attack took place late Monday night at a police checkpoint in the Mangi area of Ziarat district.

Ziarat District Police Officer Abdul Qadoos said militants opened fire on the checkpoint, triggering an armed clash with police forces that left nine policemen dead.

He added that the attackers abducted five policemen before fleeing the area. The bodies of the slain personnel were later transferred to Ziarat District Hospital.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the attack.
