At least three people have been killed and four others injured after a suspected gas explosion led to a massive fire at an apartment building in Dallas, Texas state of the United States, a media report said on Friday.
The bodies of two adult women and one child were found in the rubble, The Guardian reported, quoting Dallas Fire and Rescue.
It said four additional people were hospitalised with injuries.
A natural gas explosion initially caused the fire, Dallas Fire-Rescue Assistant Chief James Russ said at a televised press conference.
“The fire is contained, but our members are still working on the scene to do primary searches,” Russ said. “We put a drone in the air to canvass the area to see if we see any victims or anything around.”
It was “unknown how many possible fatalities we have,” he added.
Several local residents said the explosion was so powerful that it shook the walls and household items inside their homes.
Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson expressed sympathy with the victims and said authorities were closely monitoring the situation and praying for those affected and their families.
Local authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the explosion and assess the damage.
