At least three people, including a tribal elder, were killed and four others injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in the Wana district of South Waziristan on Monday, media reports said.
According to Geo News, the explosion occurred near Gulshan Plaza in the local bazaar when a vehicle carrying Malik Tariq Wazir, chief of the Ahmadzai Wazir tribe, was passing through the area.
District Police Officer Mohammad Tahir Shah Wazir said unidentified militants had allegedly planted the explosive device near Gulshan Plaza overnight, which detonated in the morning.
He said the bodies of the victims and the injured were shifted to the central hospital in Wana district.
No group has so far claimed responsibility for the blast.
