Ukrainian officials say that at least 16 people have been killed and dozens more injured in recent Russian attacks on various cities across the country.
According to Al Jazeera, the attacks were carried out overnight using hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles.
Ukraine’s Air Force said that Russia launched 659 drones and 44 missiles in the past 24 hours, most of which were intercepted by the country’s air defense systems.
The report adds that in the port city of Odesa, nine people were killed and 23 others injured. In the capital, Kyiv, at least four people, including a 12-year-old child, were killed and dozens more wounded.
In the Dnipropetrovsk region, three people were killed and 34 others injured. Meanwhile, Russian authorities stated that the strikes targeted Ukraine’s military and energy infrastructure.
On the other hand, Russia reported that two children were killed in a Ukrainian drone attack on the Black Sea port of Tuapse.
These attacks come as diplomatic efforts to end the war between the two countries have so far failed, and the fighting continues.
