At least 160 people were killed after clashes broke out between herders and farmers in a gun attack in Nigeria’s north-central state of Plateau due to, media reports said on Monday.
Reuters reported the clashes left 160 people dead, linking the violence to ethno-religious conflict between Muslim herders and mainly Christian farmers.
Plateau is one of several ethnically and religiously diverse hinterland states known, but climate change and expanding agriculture are also major factors.
In May, fights between farmers and herders in the Plateau state had killed over 100 people.
