At least six children were killed after the roof of a house collapsed in Dand district of southern Kandahar province, officials said on Thursday.
Abdul Salam Omari, Director of Disaster Preparedness, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the incident occurred on Wednesday night in the Karz area of the district.
He confirmed that all the victims were children and noted that recent rainfall had caused financial losses for residents in several districts.
Local residents added that the children were orphans, as their father had died a few months earlier while digging a well.
